Vesterålen to Reine A Journey Worth Extending

HOURS
From May
to Late August
This private excursion is designed especially for Hurtigruten and Havila passengers, disembarking in Stokmarknes (Vesterålen – 2:15 PM) and rejoining the ship in Stamsund (Lofoten – 10:15 PM). It’s a unique opportunity to turn a routine transfer into a full-day journey through two of Northern Norway’s most stunning regions.
The tour begins in the open landscapes of Hadsel island in Vesterålen, with forested hills, calm waters, and quiet villages. From there, we take the ferry from Melbu to Fiskebøl, crossing into Lofoten, where the scenery transforms — steep peaks rise from the sea, fjords cut through the land, and the coast reveals a stunning chain of islands.
We’ll have the opportunity to see Svolvær on Austvågøya, a lively harbor town known as the unofficial capital of Lofoten, offering a perfect glimpse into local life and dramatic northern beauty.
Continuing southwest, we cross Gimsøy and Vestvågøy islands, then drive through the undersea tunnel to Flakstadøya. We follow the route along Flakstadpollen, a colorful fjord framed by rugged mountain walls, and stop at Ramberg Beach, the so-called “Copacabana of Lofoten,” with white sand and turquoise waters under Arctic skies.
We’ll pass through Hamnøy, one of the most photographed villages in Lofoten, with its red cabins over the sea and dramatic cliffs, and then on to Sakrisøy, a charming island village known for its yellow rorbuer and traditional fishing atmosphere between mountain and sea.
The journey culminates in Reine, a world-famous fishing village often featured in travel magazines for its breathtaking setting — towering peaks, mirror-like waters, and the authentic charm of Lofoten’s heritage.
This is the most complete and far-reaching tour offered to Hurtigruten and Havila passengers, designed to make the absolute most of your short time ashore. You’ll visit the most iconic, most photographed, and most unforgettable places in Lofoten — the very spots that have drawn travelers from around the world.
For those who wish, a dinner reservation in Reine can be arranged before returning to your ship in Stamsund.
We suggest you invite other passengers arriving by boat to join your tour, so the fixed total cost is shared and the price per person becomes lower.
